Streamline Business Operations with an Outsourcing Company

If you are searching for a smart and cost-effective way to streamline your business operations, then considering an outsourcing company is certainly something any business owner should consider. Let?s face it, the operational side of even the smallest business can be taxing on a proprietor who is searching to boost their sales, build relationships with customers and build a team that shares their same business model. Oftentimes such pressure will result in one side of a business being neglected as the other is tended too properly, unless a business owner has help. That?s where the OutsourceGeek can help!

Why Your Business Needs an Outsourcing?

Whether you are running a small local business, one out of your home or have launched multiple businesses throughout your state, there are always going to be tasks which one sole businessman cannot do. You might find yourself having to hire an operational staff just to help you keep up, and while this is a good idea, it is a costly one. New employees means new payroll checks going out, this may not be feasible at this time for your business. An outsourcing company can actually help with this predicament in that you are still getting the operational assistance that you need, but you are saving up to 50% of the cost of hiring an in-house employee for your business.

For instance, if you need help managing the internet-based portion of your business you can take advantage of SEO, PPC, article writing and e-mail marketing services, or if you need help with in-store operations you can contract a data entry or virtual assistance outsourcing professional. Q&A: New sanctions targeting Iranian oil

(AP) ? The U.S. and Europe want to deprive Iran of the oil income it needs to run its government and, most importantly, fund what they believe is an effort to build a nuclear weapon. Their efforts are entering a new phase this week.

The U.S. as of Thursday will penalize banks that do oil deals with Iran, while European nations will embargo imports of Iranian oil starting Sunday.

These measures were announced in December and January, but lawmakers gave countries and the oil markets until this week to adjust.

Iran initially responded by threatening to block key oil routes. Oil soared over $100 per barrel as traders imagined an oil market straining to meet growing demand from China while only getting a trickle of oil from the world's third largest exporter.

Those fears have evaporated.

Iran hasn't capitulated on its nuclear ambitions but it has taken part in negotiations. World economic growth has slowed, reducing demand for oil to make fuels for transportation. Saudi Arabia and other nations boosted crude production in anticipation of lost Iranian supplies, contributing to a 25 percent plunge in oil prices since May 1. And oil buyers have had months to secure oil from other sources.

"Customers have gotten themselves in a good position to handle it," said ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson Wednesday.

Still, there is the possibility of at least temporary supply disruptions when the European embargo takes effect July 1. "What happens day of is hard to predict," Tillerson said.

But Michael Lynch, President of Strategic Energy and Economic Research, thinks it will be a "non-event." Countries that plan to honor the embargo "have already done so," he says.

Indeed, U.S. officials say Iran's oil exports and revenue are already down sharply. Iran generated $100 billion in revenue from oil last year, up from $20 billion a decade ago, according to IHS CERA, an energy consulting firm.

Iran has warned that the embargo could boost the price of oil. But the market is so flush with oil at the moment that even the loss of more Iranian crude may not lead to short supplies and higher prices. In fact, if Iran figures out a way to get around the sanctions and get more of its oil to market ? a real possibility ? oil prices could fall further.

Here are key questions and answers about the West's new sanctions and what they could mean for energy markets:

Q: What are the sanctions and when do they go into effect?

A: The U.S., which does not purchase Iranian oil, announced sanctions in December that would prohibit the world's banks from completing oil transactions with Iranian banks. That would make it more difficult for Iran to sell its crude on the open market. The oil in a single tanker can be worth $100 million. The U.S. sanctions took effect Thursday.

Europe announced in January it would prohibit imports of Iranian crude by July 1. It had been satisfying about 3 percent of its demand with oil from Iran. Europe also is prohibiting firms from insuring shipments of Iranian oil.

Q: What has been Iran's role in the world oil market?

A: In recent years, Iran has exported 2.5 million barrels of oil per day, about 3 percent of world supplies. About 500,000 barrels have gone to Europe and most of the rest to China, India, Japan and South Korea.

Iranian fields produce a type of oil known as heavy, sour crude. This is a common type of crude that contains more sulfur than so-called light, sweet crude. Heavy crudes are harder and more expensive to refine into valuable fuels such as gasoline and therefore generally command a lower price.

Q: What have been the effects of the sanctions so far?

A: U.S. officials say Iran's oil exports have declined to less than 1.8 million barrels per day, a drop of 700,000 barrels per day. At today's oil prices, the reduction is costing Iran $63 million per day. Even importers who want to buy Iranian oil have found it difficult because they haven't been able to buy insurance for oil shipments. Iran has kept up its oil production even as sales have dropped, leading to soaring levels of oil in storage.

Q: Can countries buy Iranian oil and still avoid the sanctions?

A: Yes. The State Department has announced that China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Taiwan have received waivers from the U.S. in exchange for "significantly reducing" oil imports. They will be able to continue to import some Iranian oil. Ten European countries have also received waivers, but they will not be allowed to import Iranian oil beginning July 1 anyway.

Also, countries could trade with Iran outside of the traditional banking system. Iran could accept hard assets such as gold for its oil, though that would be inefficient and risky.

Q: Will the sanctions work?

A: They have already significantly reduced Iran's oil sales. At the same time, the drop in global oil prices has reduced Iran's income from the oil it is still selling. This combination of lower sales and lower prices is stretching Iran's finances. Iran has re-engaged in nuclear talks with the West, but they have not been successful. In fact, Iran has insisted that the U.S. and Europe ease the sanctions before it will make any concessions with its nuclear program.

Bone-eating worms drill with acid

Deep sea worms use acid to eat the bones of seabed skeletons, according to US scientists.

The so-called "zombie worms" of the Osedax family are known to bore into bones and remove nutrients.

Fresh analysis of the root-like tissues the worms use to attach to bones has identified acid-secreting enzymes.

Until now scientists did not understand how the tiny creatures fed on bone, as they lack the body parts needed to "drill" physically.

Dr Sigrid Katz from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego will present the team's research at the Society for Experimental Biology's annual conference.

Worms' world:

  • Osedax are types of segmented worms (like earthworms and ragworms) in the Polychaeta group.
  • Polychaete worms are mainly marine-living and are more commonly known as bristle worms.
  • They can range in size from 1mm up to an astonishing 3m.
  • Some of the most recognisable of these worms are the Christmas tree worms, named for their conical, spiky resemblance.

Found at the bottom of the sea living on the fallen skeletons of whales and fish, the unusual group of worms have caused fascination since their "accidental" discovery in 2002 by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI).

The MBARI team provided the whale bones and specimens used by Dr Katz and her colleagues.

Scientists were perplexed when they only discovered females but further investigation revealed that the males remained in their microscopic larval stage, living inside the female worms.

The unusual group's name Osedax is Latin for "bone devourer", and the worms have no mouth, gut or anus yet are still able to remove nutrients from bones.

Previous studies have revealed that symbiotic bacteria inside the worms digest the fats and oils extracted, but the question of how the worms physically bore into the bones had been a mystery.

Close analysis of the worms failed to find any abrasive structures the worms could use to mechanically "drill" into bone.

This prompted Dr Katz and colleagues to investigate whether the worms had a chemical strategy for penetrating the bones.

By analysing the worms' tissues, the team found that acid-secreting enzymes were abundant in the root-like parts that attach to bones.

"The acid is secreted through the skin of the roots region," said Dr Katz.

"The skin cells in this region are very long cells and the upper end has lots of [microscopic protrusions, which] enlarge the surface multiple times, so lots of acid can be secreted," she explained.

Seventeen species of the worms have been recorded worldwide, including in the North Atlantic ocean off the coast of Sweden, and the Pacific Ocean off the coasts of Japan and California.

Last year BBC Nature reported that traces of the worm have also been discovered in a fossil from the Mediterranean Sea.

Dr Katz said she hoped her discovery would help scientists to unravel the "mysterious lifestyle" of the worms.

"In the past 10 years we have learned a lot more about them, but there are also still a lot of questions to answer on their physiology and especially about nutrition, nutrient uptake and host-symbiont interactions," she told BBC Nature.

"The fact that we now know how they penetrate the bone is one step in understanding the functioning of this symbiosis."

I love the finished product.? The characters are adorable and really reflect the personality and style of the person they were modeled after. ?

Native species fight back: First evidence of coevolution between invasive, native species

ScienceDaily (June 28, 2012) ? Invasive species such as kudzu, privet and garlic mustard can devastate ecosystems, and, until now, scientists had little reason to believe that native plants could mount a successful defense.

A new University of Georgia study shows that some native clearweed plants have evolved resistance to invasive garlic mustard plants -- and that the invasive plants appear to be waging a counterattack. The study, published in the early edition of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is thought to provide the first evidence of coevolution between native and invasive plant species.

"The implications of this study are encouraging because they show that the native plants aren't taking this invasion lying down," said study author Richard Lankau, assistant professor of plant biology in the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences. "It suggests that if you were to take a longer view -- a timescale of centuries -- that exotic species could become integrated into their communities in a way that is less problematic for the natives."

Garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) was introduced to the U.S. from Europe roughly 150 years ago first in New York and Virginia and then to the Chicago area. The noxious plant continues to spread rapidly throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast. "It's a pretty well-hated plant," Lankau said, because it can form dense carpets in forest understories and, even after being physically removed from an area, can reestablish itself within a year.

Much of the plant's success is a result of the chemical warfare it wages with a compound known as sinigrin, which kills fungi that help native plants extract nutrients from the soil. The chemical is relatively new to North America, and this novelty gives garlic mustard a huge competitive advantage.

Through a series of greenhouse and field experiments conducted over three years in five states, Lankau has shown that invasive garlic mustard produces more sinigrin in areas where more local plants are present. He found that native clearweed (Pilea pumila) plants, which were chosen for the study because they occupy the same forest understory habitat, show higher levels of resistance to sinigrin in areas where the two species have a longer history of coexistence.

"It looks like the native plants have evolved in response to the traits of the invader," Lankau said.

In addition to transplanting clearweed seeds back to their sites of origin, Lankau also planted them in all of the other study sites and monitored their growth. Each site has its unique soil chemistry and climate, and Lankau said he expected the plants to exhibit a home-field advantage. Instead, he found that native plants resistant to the invader did best in heavily invaded sites, regardless of where they originated. Surprisingly, he found that plants resistant to sinigrin actually did worse than their less-resistant-plant counterparts in areas where there was little or no garlic mustard.

"It's not all good for those populations that are evolving tolerance," Lankau said. "Because they are less successful in the absence of garlic mustard, their resistance to the invasive species comes at a cost."

Taken together, the findings suggest that the native and invasive species could reach equilibrium over a long period of time. Lankau said the study also raises the possibility that humans can help speed the adaptation of ecosystems to invasive species. He explained that removing invasive species and replanting natives often results in failure but replacing invasive species with native plants from an area where the plants have had time to adapt to the invader could be more effective. Rather than replanting clearweed from a recently invaded site in Michigan, for example, land managers could use plants from New York that are more likely to be resistant to garlic mustard.

"When people talk about evolution, it's usually in the past tense," Lankau said. "But one of the important messages from this study is that it's an ongoing process that can happen fast. And this study suggests that we might be able to jumpstart that process through evolutionarily informed management."

The research was supported by the National Science Foundation.

Hitchcock classics Dial M for Murder (3D) and Strangers on a Train come to Blu-ray October 9th

Hitchcock classics Dial M for Murder 3D and Strangers on a Train come to Bluray October 9th

Warner Bros. is reaching deep into its vaults and releasing two Alfred Hitchcock classics on Blu-ray this fall in Dial M for Murder and Strangers on a Train. While both are notable for their content, Dial M for Murder reaches back to a much earlier infatuation with 3D during the 50s, however few moviegoers at the time actually got to see it in the intended format. According to the press release, the studio has gone back to the original camera negative for a 4K scan, with restoration done for both eyes and tweaks to improve convergence where necessary (a 2D version is also included). Fans of classic 3D should keep an eye out more on the way, as EVP Jeff Baker says House of Wax is up next from the catalog of 15 movies Warner is able to draw from. The Dial M for Murder Blu-ray 3D is scheduled to hit shelves October 9th for $35.99, while Strangers On A Train will be released the same day for $19.98. Check after the break for the press release with full details, as well as trailers for both movies.

Postmates Rolls Out Dynamic Pricing To New Users Of Its ?Get It Now? Delivery Service

postmatesA month ago, mobile delivery startup Postmates publicly launched its 'Get It Now' on-demand courier service in San Francisco, allowing its users to order pretty much anything from various stores and restaurants around the city. When it introduced the plan, it charged a flat $7.99 fee for all deliveries made within an hour. Now it's changing things up just a bit, with a new dynamic pricing plan that will range anywhere from $5 up to $12, based on how difficult the delivery is. The dynamic pricing plan is based on an algorithm which calculates the fee based on the amount of time spent traveling and distance traveled, how long its couriers spend shopping or waiting in line to pick up an item, and the type of store that the user ordered from. Prices are based on historical data from the last month of operations, and will continue to be adjusted as new deliveries provide more data.

Rio+20: 5 key takeaways

The three-day United Nations sustainability conference, Rio+20, wraps up today, after leaders and diplomats from over 190 countries gathered to define how a ?green economy? would provide a sustainable path with social inclusion. But the conference has been largely overshadowed by criticism for its perceived lack of vision, leadership, and concrete action.

But the entire conference didn?t take place under a giant dark cloud, say delegates. It?s important to look beyond the actual rhetoric of the gathering, and focus on what was accomplished on the sidelines, says Jim Shultz, the head of the social and environmental advocacy group the Democracy Center in Bolivia, who was in Rio leading educational workshops. ??

Here are some of the promising developments and bigger disappointments of the mega-meeting:

- Sara Miller Llana,?Staff writer

Public and private sector investment

Andrew Deutz, director of international government relations at The Nature Conservancy, says that the meetings he has attended on the sidelines of the Rio+20 showed a clear recognition on the part of governments and companies that they must invest in ?natural capital.? At a meeting sponsored by The Nature Conservancy, for example, Indonesian President Bambang Yudhoyono said that for the sake of food security, oceans must be protected. And the company FEMSA, for example, is investing in ecowater funds in Brazil.

?Many of the businesses here are recognizing that environmental degradation can be a major business risk if they don't deal with it,? Mr. Deutz says.

Tensie Whelan, the president of the Rainforest Alliance, and Paul Polman, the CEO of Unilever, reiterate this idea in a Reuters blog about what the private sector is accomplishing, and what more can be done with additional support from governments. ?In the years since the first Earth Summit, businesses and NGOs like ours have been working to scale up sustainable resource use and engage producers and communities worldwide,? the authors write. ?Our efforts are quietly transforming global markets. Three percent of the world?s working forests, 10 percent of the world?s tea production and 15 percent of the world?s bananas are under sustainable management certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Ten percent of the entire global economy now operates under some form of sustainability standards. And these numbers are growing rapidly.?

Unfortunately, We Now Have To Speculate About What's Wrong With Google CEO Larry Page...

Google CEO Larry Page has a mysterious ailment that caused him to miss last week's shareholder meeting.

Google says this ailment will also cause Larry to miss (or at least not speak at) Google's big developer conference this week and Google's earnings call in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, Larry Page last posted to his Google+ account on May 25th, nearly a month ago.

Google's explanation of the situation is merely that Larry has "lost his voice."

Larry's own explanation to his Google troops is that there is "nothing seriously wrong."

And we all obviously hope that nothing is seriously wrong.

But coming as it does on the heels of the tragic sickness and death of Steve Jobs, which was preceded by Apple's absurdly vague and sugar-coated statements along the way, everyone can be forgiven for worrying that it's deja vu all over again.

And, as inappropriate and intrusive as it might seem to be, everyone can also be forgiven for wondering what might be wrong with Larry.

Google could just tell us what's wrong with Larry, so we wouldn't have to speculate. But, for some reason, Google is choosing not to do that. So we have no choice but to speculate.

In fact, given Larry's importance to Google and the tech industry and Google shareholders, it would be irresponsible not to speculate. Because if it turns out that something is seriously wrong with Larry--or if what is currently not serious becomes serious--we will all feel like idiots for not having learned our lesson from Steve and Apple.

(Not that having the full details about Steve's situation would have changed things. He still would have died way too young.? But at least the time and energy devoted to the perfectly reasonable speculation about Steve's health could have been spent on more important things.)

I think Google should tell us exactly what's wrong with Larry. Given Larry's importance to the company, I think it's the fair and right thing to do.

But given that Google has decided not to do this, here's some of the early speculation...

Larry Page is only 39. He appears to be in robust health. He is "prematurely gray," which some armchair physicians worry is a possible sign of a thyroid problem, possibly thyroid cancer.

"Thyroid cancer," though, would presumably qualify as a "serious" problem. Unless it was very minor thyroid cancer. So there is some concern that it might be that.

Lots of people are wondering whether Larry smokes. I doubt he smokes (he seems to be a health nut), but this would also be helpful information to know.

Amir Efrati and Joann Lublin of the Wall Street Journal talked to a doctor and came back with three other things that might be wrong with Larry.? Encouragingly, they're all much less serious than thyroid cancer:

  • "acute laryngitis, a viral infection that causes inflammation of the vocal cords and requires resting one's voice for at least week or two,"
  • "Muscle tension dysphonia, which occurs when the muscles around the larynx, or voice box, are too tight and causes a person to use excess tension while speaking. Voice therapy is often required for such an ailment."
  • "Some people who naturally produce an unusual-sounding or hoarse voice may develop benign lesions that grow on the vocal cord... Surgery is sometimes required to remove the growths."

If the problem is any of those things, we're mystified as to why Google won't tell us that.

Is there something embarrassing or uber-private about having "acute laryngitis"?

Again, we very much hope that there isn't anything seriously wrong with Larry. We hope he gets well soon. In the meantime, unfortunately, we'll just have to speculate.

Obama: Europeans 'grasp seriousness' of debt crisis, moving 'heightened sense of urgency'

LOS CABOS, Mexico - President Barack Obama voiced confidence Tuesday in Europe's ability to "break the fever" of its raging debt crisis as he sought to calm both global financial markets and the election-year worries of voters at home.

Obama, speaking at the close of the Group of 20 economic summit, said Europe's leaders showed a "heightened sense of urgency" during two days of talks in this Mexican resort. The president maintained that Europe had the capacity to solve the crisis on its own, indicating the U.S., still battling its own economic woes, would not be offering any financial pledges to help its international partners.

"Even if they cannot achieve all of it in one fell swoop, I think if people have a sense of where they are going that can provide confidence and break the fever," Obama said in a news conference that brought to a close his last foreign trip before the November election.

Obama waded deep into the summit discussions on Europe's debt crisis, which could have repercussions both for a U.S. economy still struggling to recover from a recession and Obama's own re-election prospects. He acknowledged that "all of this affects the United States" but that his administration does not have control over how quickly the Europeans fix the problems.

"All of these issues, economic issues, will potentially have some impact on the election," Obama said.

Mindful of his audience of voters in the U.S., Obama said: "The best thing the United States can do is to create jobs and growth in the short term even as we continue to put our fiscal house in order over the long term.

While the European crisis consumed much of the summit, Obama broke away from the main meetings to tackle other pressing global issues, most notably the violence in Syria. Obama described his meetings with the leaders of Russia and China, two countries that have stymied U.S. efforts to take action against Syria at the United Nations, as productive but said they were "not aligned" with the U.S.

"I don't think it would be fair to say that the Russian and the Chinese are signed on at this point," Obama said. "But I do think they recognize the grave dangers of all-out civil war."

More than 14,000 people have been killed in months of clashes between rebels and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad, according to Syrian opposition groups. While the U.S. and other nations have long called for Assad to leave power, Russia has refrained from doing so.

"No one has the right to decide for other people who should be in power and who should step aside," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his own post G-20 news conference.

Election-year politics followed Obama abroad. Asked about criticism of his economic proposals from an adviser to his Republican rival Mitt Romney, Obama gave a prickly response.

"We have one president at a time and one administration at a time," he said. "And I think traditionally the notion has been that America's political differences end at the water's edge."

Despite Obama's endorsement of European efforts, he said the responsibility for creating jobs back in the U.S. lay with his administration and congressional lawmakers, not Europe. He urged Congress to focus on steps they could take to boost job creation and economic growth, pitching legislation he proposed months ago that has little chance of garnering Republican support in an election year.

"I've consistently believed that if we take the right policy steps, if we're doing the right thing, then the politics will follow and my mind hasn't changed on that," Obama said.

The European stew of high debt, high borrowing rates and high unemployment poses huge spillover risks to the American economy and Obama's political future.

The U.S. economy is in a tentative recovery amid a slump in hiring and indications that the housing market is healing. Those mixed signals have muddled Obama's re-election prospects as Romney mounts a campaign singularly focused on the state of the U.S. economy.

Underscoring the stakes, Obama held a lengthy private meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose country plays a pivotal role in addressing the crisis. Obama also held a joint meeting Tuesday with leaders from Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the European Union.

European leaders are expected to outline the details of their next steps to address the continent's crisis during a summit in Brussels next week.

Despite the words of unity during the Mexico meetings, European leaders showed signs that they have heard enough about their troubles, particularly from Americans. Memories linger of the 2008 financial crash that was born in the United States and destroyed jobs and wealth.

"The eurozone has a serious problem, but it is certainly not the only imbalance in the world economy," Italian Prime Minster Mario Monti said Tuesday. He said the United States' own financial problems were mentioned in G-20 talks "by almost everybody, including President Obama."

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso took an aggressive tone with reporters on Monday, also pointing some blame at North America and saying, "Frankly we are not coming here to receive lessons in terms of democracy."

Chinese crew passes first space docking test

China performed its first-ever space docking involving a piloted spacecraft on Monday, joining the ranks of history's two greatest spacefaring nations, the United States and Russia.

China's Shenzhou 9 space capsule ? which launched Saturday carrying three astronauts, including the country's first female spaceflier ? linked up automatically with the unmanned Tiangong 1 space lab just after 2 p.m. Monday Beijing time (2 a.m. ET), according to CCTV.

The only other countries to pull off an orbital docking with a manned spacecraft are the United States and then-Soviet Russia, which first did so in 1966 and 1969, respectively.

Shenzhou 9 was to dock with Tiangong 1 twice. The plan called for the first hookup to be conducted in automated mode, following the pattern set last November during an all-robotic docking between Tiangong and an unmanned Shenzhou 8 craft. At some point, the two spacecraft will separate, and the three taikonauts, as China's astronauts are known, will perform the second docking under manual control.

Forty-six-year-old Jing Haipeng leads the taikonaut crew, which also includes Liu Wang, 42, and 33-year-old Liu Yang, China's first female astronaut. All are members of the Communist Party of China and former pilots with the People's Liberation Army; Jing flew on China's last manned spaceflight, which took place in 2008.

Two of the taikonauts will live aboard Tiangong 1 during the 13-day mission, while one will stay aboard Shenzhou 9 at all times in case of emergency.

Shenzhou 9's flight is considered a key step in China's plan to build a permanently staffed space station in Earth orbit. The nation hopes to have a 60-ton station and up and running by 2020. (For comparison, the International Space Station weighs about 430 tons.)

Shenzhou 9's mission is China's fourth manned spaceflight, following taikonaut launches in 2003, 2005 and 2008. Another manned mission to Tiangong 1 ? which launched to orbit in September 2011 ? could come later this year, Chinese officials have said.

Lamar Smith: Obama's amnesty for illegal immigrants is against the law

The Obama administration decision for immunity from deportation for young illegal immigrants is a breach of faith with Americans. It also blatantly ignores the law. This isn't the first time Obama has waived rules or refused to enforce laws against illegal immigration, writes Rep. Smith.

President Obama responds June 15 as he is interrupted while announcing that his administration will stop deporting and begin granting work permits to younger illegal immigrants. Op-ed contributor Rep. Lamar Smith writes that to 'ignore Congress and the Constitution is exactly what the president has done.'

It?s said that desperate times call for desperate measures. But in these dismal economic and political times, the Obama administration has called for unlawful measures that grant amnesty to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

Today, Janet Napolitano, secretary of Homeland Security, announced immunity from deportation for illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States before they turned 16 and who are younger than 30 ? among other criteria. They can apply for a two-year work permit that can be renewed indefinitely.

The decision is not just a breach of faith with the American people. It blatantly ignores the rule of law that is the foundation of our democracy.

In an interview with Univision television earlier this year, President Obama said that he can?t just ?waive away the laws that Congress put in place? and that ?the president doesn?t have the authority to simply ignore Congress and say, ?We?re not going to enforce the laws that you?ve passed.??

But ignore Congress and the Constitution is exactly what the president has done ?? and this isn?t the first time. Throughout the past three years of his administration, Mr. Obama has waived applying several of our immigration rules and has refused to enforce other immigration laws.

Earlier this year, administration officials at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) outlined their plan to ignore a rule that requires illegal immigrants to leave the US before they can then ask the federal government to waive a law that bans them from legally returning here for several years.

While the waiver of this rule is sometimes allowed under current law, it is only applied on a case-by-case basis, not to entire categories of illegal immigrants. But Obama and his administration have bent these established rules by applying them to potentially millions of illegal immigrants.

And this decision comes on the heels of an even larger plan to reward illegal immigrants. Last year, political appointees at DHS issued new deportation guidelines to target illegal immigrants that have been identified by DHS. That amounts to backdoor amnesty and strikes another blow at the 13 million unemployed American workers.

Under Obama?s deportation policy, DHS officials review all incoming and most pending cases before an immigration court to determine if the illegal immigrant can remain in the US. Since DHS political appointees have made clear that many illegal immigrants are not considered ?priorities? for removal, this means that potentially millions of illegal immigrants can remain in the US without a vote of Congress.

The administration?s amnesty policy, expanded once again, not only violates the rule of law, it only benefits illegal immigrants, not Americans, and is a magnet for fraud. Many illegal immigrants will falsely claim they came here as children or are under the age of 30 and the federal government has no way to check whether their claims are true.

And once these illegal immigrants are granted deferred action, they can then apply for a work permit, which the administration routinely grants 90 percent of the time. This could put even more US citizens on the unemployment rolls.

Ignoring Congress and the Constitution may be politically convenient for President Obama, but this huge policy shift has horrible consequences for unemployed Americans looking for jobs. It violates the president?s oath to uphold the laws of this land.

It doesn?t matter how bleak poll numbers are or how low campaign coffers may be, the president of the United States cannot ignore the rule of law.
