Women's Soccer Preview: University of Mobile & William Carey University

WEST PALM BEACH, FL ? Northwood University's soccer teams will continue their season-opening road trip with visits to University of Mobile on Saturday, and William Carey University Sunday in Hattiesburg, MS.

Due to the effects of Hurricane Isaac, the games were rescheduled and had venue changes. Saturday's games against Mobile will be played at Founder's Park in Fairhope, AL. The women's game will kick-off at 6:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8:30 p.m. The William Carey game has been moved from Friday to Sunday and will be played at Oak Grove High School. The women will play at 2:00 p.m., followed by the men at 4:00 p.m.

On the women's side, the No. 15 Seahawks look to maintain their winning streak at Mobile University and William Carey. Northwood is 2-0 on the season with victories at Gwinnett, 3-1, and at Montreat College, 2-0. Junior forward Helen Lynskey (Rotherham, UK) leads the Seahawks offensively with three goals, all coming against Gwinnett, while freshman forward Linnea Lindmark (Leksand, Sweden) has a goal and an assist on the young season. The fifth-ranked Mobile Rams match the Seahawks with a 2-0 record on the season, with wins over Grand View University, 2-1, and No. 7 Martin Methodist, 1-0. UM senior forward Christy Lachapelle (San Antonio, TX/Ronald Regan HS) has been the offensive catalyst for the Rams with all three team goals on the season.

The William Carey Lady Crusaders are coming into the game after rolling over Cardinal Stritch at home , 5-0, on Saturday. Four players scored for William Carey in the win, lead by senior midfielder Tori McDevitt (Southampton, UK) with two goals. 15 players are returning from the 2011 squad, who went 8-8-2, including their top-four point scorers: junior midfielder Malin Barrulf (23 points, Karistad, Sweden/Hammar), senior forward Sasha Rodriguez (14 points, Hesperia, CA/Victor Valley C.C.), junior midfielder Kristen Satcher (14 points, Hattiesburg, MS), and McDevitt (13 points). Barrulf had a team-high eight goals and seven assists. Lady Crusaders senior goalkeeper Gemma Layfield (Buderim, Australia/Matther Flinder Anglican College) is back between the pipes after playing all but 42 minutes of the 2011 season with a 1.6 GAA and 79.6 save percentage..
